When Life Hurts: Brokenness
Scripture Lesson for the Day: Jeremiah 18:3-4; 1 Corinthians 1:26-27;
2 Corinthians 4:7
Cornerstone Text: “…the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him”
(Jeremiah 18:4, NIV).
Can a shattered and broken life be restored?
“Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message”
(Jeremiah 18:2, NIV).
Important lessons to learn from the potter’s house…
Lesson #1: God is the master potter shaping your life.
“So I went to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel”
(Jeremiah 18:3, NIV).
Lesson #2: Like it or not you are clay in the potter’s hands.
What do you believe about the sovereignty of God in your life?
“…Who are you a human being, to criticize God? Should the thing that was created say to the one who made it, ‘Why have you made me like this?’ When a potter makes jars out of clay, doesn’t he have a right to use the same lump of clay to make one jar for decoration and another to throw garbage into it?” (Romans 20-21, NLT).
Lesson #3: Life and its circumstances may mar us while we are on the potter’s wheel.
“But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands…”
(Jeremiah 18:4a, NIV).
Lesson #4: When your life gets marred he will not discard you but will remake you!
KEY UNDERSTANDING: There are no throw away people in God’s eyes.
“ But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him” (Jeremiah 18:4, NIV).
