A Savior is born to you:  A Light for your Day!

Scripture Lesson for the Day:  Luke 1:1-4, 2:8-14, 25-35; John 8:12

Cornerstone Text:  “But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid.  I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord’a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory of your people Israel” (Luke 2:10-11, 32).

What does the word Savior mean to you this Christmas?

Jesus as your Savior…

  • Shows you the way as your light bearer!

“A light for revelation…”  (Luke 2:32a, NIV).

“The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was going to come into the world” (John 1:9, NLT).

"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12, NIV).

“I have come as a Light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer wander in the darkness”  (John 12:46, TLB).

  • Shines His light in your heart to reveal its condition!

“With my own eyes I’ve seen your salvation; it’s now out in the open for everyone to see: A God-revealing light for the non-Jewish nations, and of glory for your people Israel’” (Luke 2:30-32, The Message).

“For though your hearts were once full of darkness, now you are full of light from the Lord, and your behavior should show it…Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, rebuke and expose them”   (Ephesians 5:8, 11,  NLT).

“Those who do what is right come to the light gladly, so everyone can see that they are doing what God wants”  (John 3:21, NLT).

What does the light of Christ reveal about your heart?

  • Shatters the darkness of fear that death brings into your life!

“The people who walk in darkness will see a great light – a light that will shine on all who live in the land where death casts its shadow” (Isaiah 9:2, NLT).

“‘Lord, now I can die in peace!  As you promised me, I have seen the Savior you have given to all people’” (Luke 2:29-30, NLT).

Closing Challenge:  Christmas is the season of lights.  Jesus is the brightest and most beautiful light you can possibly experience this Christmas! Will you let the Savior born to you shine his life giving light into your life?
